I got this book as a birthday present and I have to say I was pretty excited to read it too because I love mythology, plus the cover is stunning! So when I finished reading it a few days ago I decided to review it and share my thoughts with you all.

The Immortal Games

by Annaliese Avery.

cover

“I really am just a blood and flesh playing piece.”

Ara has been preparing for The Immortal Games every since her sister died playing them. She is determined to win and avenge her sister’s death. However when she is chosen by Hades, Ara fears that she might lose and the Games start to get complicated…

I enjoyed this Ancient Greek fantasy very much. I knew so from the moment I picked it up, I mean just look at that cover; gorgeous! So I read it as soon as I could. I loved every page. Ara’s journey felt to vivid to me, almost as if I was journeyed there alongside her. I invested in her hopes and dreams, I shared her troubles and I hated those that she hated. The pace was fast and thrilling, the emotions on a roller-coaster and I was immediately sad when it ended — I wanted more! I particularly liked the angle at which Avery portrays the character of Hades, presenting him in a light I had never seen before. It was intriguing for me to explore how different his personality is from the rest of his immortal family and I loved how cleverly it was done. Overall, an fascinating read. 4/5 stars!

Thanks for reading!
